blue pounce is not washing out - ugh!!
I have never used the pounce chalk before, but I bought some white and blue. I was working on a quilt that was pink and white so I used the blue fearing that the white would not show. Well I really liked marking with it and the blue pounce did a really good job. The only problem is that I have washed it and the blue isn't washing out. Now 99% of the blue did wash out... but there are some spots where it is not washing out. It looks like its the thread that its not washing out of... but not all over. I washed it a second time and it does look a little better. But there is still some blue thread - - when it was pink thread. Has anyone else had this? Will it eventually wash out?

I have not used the pounce but did use a blue chalk pencil on white fabric....once. Just like you it washed out everywhere but the thread. Good luck!

Blue pounce is notorious for staining...I never use it..heard horror stories awhile back......stick with white pounce if you r going to pounce

I would think another washing and it would come out. My neighbor uses the blue and white but one thing she told me she does before washing is she takes a very soft make up brush that has never been used for makeup and brushes all over it. She says it loosens the chalk. Then she uses the attachment on her vacuum and gets as much as she can. She doesn't hold it right up against the fabric but it helps to lift the chalk. Works for her and she only washes it once.

Don't panic yet. This happened to me also. Do an oxyclean soak and then wash again. Or put a little shout on the places it didn't come out and then wash again.
What I do now is brush as much loose blue chalk as possible before washing, then start with an oxy clean presoak and finally a normal wash. I have never had a permanent stain Just do notmdry until you are sure it is all gone. |
Thank you for your replies! Some really good ideas and now I have somethings to try

Tone down your blue powder with white powder, then vacuum and pre-soke then wash.

I had the same thing happen. I am not certain how many times I had washed the quilt but it was probably 5 or 6 times. I had complained about it and was going to take it to our guild meeting to see if anyone had any suggestions. I decided to wash it before I took it. I had changed laundry soap and the new one had oxy on the label. Would you believe the remainder of the blue washed out? I was a very happy camper.

boy, am I glad I didn't use mine. I told my son to get some white chalk and he came back with the blue powder . I thought, no I can't use this. Gut feeling. I was going to take it back, but never got around to it and it still sitting in the corner in the bag it came it. Don't need any problems.
