Blue waltz l
Hi I'm new to quilting and following patterns. I recently purchased the blue waltz l kit and I got a little confused reading the directions. Out of assorted blue prints cut 100 2 1/2 squares in matching sets of 20? I'm probably over thinking this? But would like your input. Thanks in advance

It sounds as tho you are supposed to cut out 20 squares each from 5 different blue fabrics. Sometimes finding out what you are supposed to do with those squares helps clarify. Looking at the pictures, it seems as tho the Carpenters wheels are not scrappy (mixing up all the different blues) but each has one blue fabric. That would make sense to me.
Read further into the pattern to determine how the squares will be used. |
I always construct one block before cutting for a whole quilt.

I think we would have to see the pattern first. It could mean five sets of twenty squares each, each set having identical numbers of the same fabrics.

So do I!!! I learned my lesson the hard way and cut up everything for a project before making any of the blocks. That project has been in my UFO pile for 5 years now. |
I think I found the same quilt - different pic:

That is the quilt. I'm going to a quiltING retreat YAY!!!! So I wanted to have the pieces already to go . There are several pieces to be cut that say in sets of 12,or 20. I've got all the white cut already. I think I'll wait and cut the blues at the retreat. Thank you all so much for sharing.

I'm jealous that you get to go to a retreat... it should be a lot of fun! Your quilt is going to be lovely... great pattern. You'll have to show us pictures when you're done.
