Blunt Rotart Blade

I am mentoring a young lady she called me about her rotary blade not cutting
only putting a dent in the fabric,(funny) I was puzzled couldn't figure what she was
talking about ,I told her to do the obvious things but to no avail, so I had her
come over I put the blade in put my cutter as mine is different from hers you
guessed it the same thing happened ,it put a dent in the fabric nooo cut, so I gave
her one of my blabes walla!!! it worked I haven't met with this before, have
any of you I do beleive it was a Fiskar blade a faulty one.

Sounds like it is a scoring blade. They are easy to get mixed up

Interesting. I've never heard of a scoring blade. Makes sense.

So nice that you're helping her!

Yes, it does sound like a scoring blade. It's used in paper crafting. Just as you said, it puts a dent or crease in paper when you want to make a crisp fold.

I bought blades with a pink ribbon. They do not cut as good as the dull blade I replaced it with. I'm sure they were replacement blades meant to cut fabric. I have not heard of a scoring blade either and am sure these were not them.
Next time I will only buy genuine fiskar blades, they work great.

I put wrong blade in one of my blades and it did not work. Reason , it was the centre hole which was a different shape than one taken out..

I never heard of the scoring blades either. Wow, you learn something every day on this board.

I accidentally put TWO blades in my Olfa regular size cutter when changing a dull blade! It just didn't work right so I checked it and boy, was I surprised !!

I've had blades get so dull that they basically just dented the fabric!

I was having so much trouble with my blade not cutting very well. I kept using it and had to cut the spot two or three times. Finally, I put a new blade in and now it cuts everything the first time. I think I was trying to be careful and try and use my blade as long as possible. No more! I am changing blades at the first sign of trouble. It's so nice to cut things the first time I swipe it. They are so inexpensive, I don't know what I was thinking.
