Being pretty much self taught, didn't even realize I was doing it wrong cuz I just winde it around and go.

Although I have only been quilting for a couple of years, I have been sewing for years and years and this is the first time I have heard about the little hole in the bobbing being used for anything. Goes to show how well I have read the instruction manual when I got a new machine. LOL

Same here!!!

Sorry, I don't share your shame! I was taught to pull the thread thru the little hole and I just do it out of habit now! I've always been afraid my bobbin wouldn't wrap correctly or tight enough if I don't do it.

I thread through the hole - have to, otherwise my machine won't talk to me.
Mind, she's a bit temperamental about bobbin winding anyway so... |
Because I am self-taught, it never even occurred to me to use the hole - although I did wonder why it was there - duh... Anyway, I've always wrapped and never had a problem. Guess I'll read the manual that goes with my machine a little closer!

Yes, I do share your shame.

I do the little hole thing. When I wrap it seems to take a few tries to get it to go right.

After over 54 yr.s of sewing I have always put the thread through the hole, hold tail and trim after it winds a few times and trim then continue on. Whatever works will work for you. I don't think I could get it to work the other way.

I sew with my vintage machines so I thread through the little hole.
