Check the needle first. If it is in wrong, this can happen. Get your book out and see where it goes. Also exactly how to thread the needle.

I have had it happen to me. This is what I do
#1--Unthread the machine completly. #2--Take out bobbin #3--Brush out machine or vacuum any place for lint including under the plate #4--Oil anywhere that takes oil #5--Put in a new needle #6--Re thread the machine I have discovered that most of the time with me it needs a new needle or the machine is not threaded properly. Going through all the steps never hurts the machine. If you go through all of the steps and you still have the problem, take the machine in for service. |

I had that problem all the time until I purchased the silicone washer-type items to put under the bobbin. Since then, no more birds nests.

First I agree with Elaine433, but I just had to comment on DreziArnaz's upside down thread hanging from a chandelier! I love it! What us quilters won' do to get it done! Right! Lol

Hold both threads when you begin the line of stitching. Or use leaders and Enders.

Phrojangles: The thread upside down hanging from the chandalier is so I don't go broke just buying thread. I used well over 3K yards in my last quilt. I started buying serger thread to save money and I'm too cheap to buy an adapter so it's hanging upside down from the chandalier using a binder clip, a rubber band and a paper clip. When I want to change cones I just unclip the binder clip and clip the new one on.

Where does one buy those silicone washers to go under the bobbin?

This has also happened to me when my needle was not quite properly set when I changed it. It could be that the needle turned just a bit or wasn't pushed completely to the top when inserting it.

this happens on the first 2-3 stitches on my machine.
So this means that the top thread is not catching properly?
