They actually make my HandiQuilter machine work better. I would randomly get birds nests, and that stopped with the Teflon washer.

I have never used them either. Please explain their function and just what they are?

Before I'd heard about them, I had issues with backlashing & bird nesting with my Tin Lizzie 18, so cut a circle of fabric to fit into the bobbin casing. It stopped the bobbin spinning too fast & solved the problems.
Have never had this happen with my DSMs.

"Bobbin washers," all that I could envision were little, tiny elves, hunched over a miniature sink filled with bubbles, scrubbing away on metal bobbins. What the heck are bobbin washers?

We obviously think alike. :)

Easy to search and find out all you want to know. Some use them and some don't.

I use them all the time when FMQing. I think they help with my bobbin tension, and most important they definitely don't hurt.

I started using them when I began FMQ my own quilts and just leave in the bobbin case all the time now.
