penski 03-31-2011 08:39 AM

yes i love mine !!!!

Bjbaxter 03-31-2011 08:49 AM

Mine only worked for a few months, then quit, it was on sale, and wasn't worth the postage to send it back.

sueven 03-31-2011 08:55 AM

I use mine all the time. Because I have a viking I had to buy the expensive one. Well worth it IMHO.

debbieoh 03-31-2011 08:56 AM

baglady65 03-31-2011 09:38 AM

This is what I would have said also. I bought mine with a 50% off coupon at JoAnn's so that helped. I keep mine plugged in and handy .... just in case. Obviously I don't plan very well when filling bobbins!

Bonnie P 03-31-2011 11:55 AM

Love mine and use it all the time.
Such a speedy little thing!

Tilladare 03-31-2011 01:44 PM

i am considering one to fill bobbins for hand applique, so I could carry lots of colors with me

Very helpful to know, as I have mainly old Singers, but One Newer Viking...would hate to cause problems for it! Thanks so much.

I bought many bobbins in bulk on ebay (for each of my machines, including original Viking green). I bought a "Wrights- SideWinder" from Joann's but haven't used it yet, as we also do a lot of remodeling around our house. When the dust (drywall or sawdust) is flying for months at a time...I put my machines & fabric safely out of harms way...in a nice outbuilding that is clean. We should have joined "remodeler's anonymous" years ago, per our children!

I noticed Joann's also sells the Dritz "Better Bobbin Winder" for about the same price. Can some of you say which brand you've used when you state that you LOVE it!

I wonder where some of you live that find the Joann's bobbin winder for $20...here is the current link @ Joann's online, one is $34, the other is $39. Wright's- http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...DID=xprd315882
Dritz -http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...en=10582594436
Even w a 50% off coupon, these would go for $17 or more. I know I paid even more than that for mine.

ewesful 03-31-2011 03:47 PM

Several friends bought them and never realized the spindles were different sizes from one to another and they don't fit many machines - I tried my Pfaff, Vikings and neither will work. I just wind up a mess of them before a project.

Lyncat 03-31-2011 04:57 PM

I also love mine for my old Singers. Each one is a little different, and I don't have to remember how to wind bobbins on each machine.

Ditto! LOVE mine!

GramaLaura 03-31-2011 06:31 PM

Thanks ladies.....I think I need one now :-D

Dee 03-31-2011 08:23 PM

I wouldn't do without mine. Worth every penny.

pamkasperi 03-31-2011 09:22 PM

I have a Brother bobbin winder that I'd like to sell - they are pretty expensive but can we list those on the classified sections or is it just fabric? Maybe I read it and didn't see it....

Silly me, I don't 'unthread' the machine, I just take the spool of thread, set it on the throat plate, and set a second spool in it's place and wind several bobbins. I then remove the second spool, replace the first, and away I go! Try it, it saves lots of time and hassle. IMHO :D

Momsmurf 03-31-2011 10:01 PM

I use mine all the time....worth the $ for me.

Janquiltz 03-31-2011 10:30 PM

I really like my side-winder (think that is what it is called). Mine is pink which accepts the Viking Rose machine's bobbins. As far as I know the Viking will not take the pre-wound. I normally wind 3-4 in advance (depends on what I am sewing)and if I don't have enough so easy to wind another bobbin or two on the fly without having to unthread and rethread my machine. Saves wear and tear on your machine and is small enough to take with you to quilt classes, retreats, camps, etc.

sandy l 04-01-2011 12:23 AM

I have a Sidewinder that I use to wind bobbins for my Voyager 17 quilting machine as I can't wind them on any of my other machines.

justlooking 04-01-2011 02:31 AM

I love mine, wouldn't wind a bobbin with my machine.

Candy Apple Quilts 04-01-2011 02:51 AM

not worth the money in my sewing room, won't work properly on my machine, winds uneven. Got mine with a gift certificate so it was not my money but I could have purchased material. Never seen the expensive one someone mentioned, maybe that is my problem.

cny_sewer39 04-01-2011 04:58 PM

I bought mine at JoAnns using a coupon. I use my all the time. I love the fact that I don't have to unthread my machine, wind the bobbin, and then rethread my machine. It is one of my MUST HAVES in my sewing room. I have not regretted buying mine. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!! LOL

Don't you need and extra spool of thread to use the bobbin winder. sometimes I only have one and then I'd have to unthread my machine--might as well wind the bobbin on my machine.

Roberta 04-02-2011 07:07 AM

I use mine all the time and love it.
