Bobbins
I have a Bernina machine and this summer I bought a Pfaff Ambition Essential machine which I am using maily for piecing quilts. My Pfaff requires clear plastic bobbins for Pfaff machines. However, I accidently put one of my metal Bernina bobbins in my Pfaff machine and used it and did not even realize I had a Bernina metal bobbin in--until it went empty and I went to change it!. My stitches were fine with using the metal Bernina bobbins in my Pfaff machine. The advantage I see to having the Pfaff clear plastic bobbins is that I can see better when the bobbin is getting near empty. Otherwise, is there any reason why I should not use the metal Bernina bobbins in my Pfaff machine? Will it hurt it in any way? Have any of you intermixed your bobbins between different brands of machines.?

You are not supposed to use metal bobbins in a plastic bobbin case. The metal can abrade the plastic and ruin the case.

Personally I would only use the bobbins recommended for the machine. I would hate to ruin my machine because I didn't want to spend a couple of dollars on a bobbin!

Thank you both for your replies. I will take your advise and stick to the plastic bobbins.
