I like Keepsake's Amish Black, too. It has a nice "hand," as opposed to Kona which is stiff and heavier. My one problem with black backgrounds is that, over time, it fades. I don't mind the look of an older quilt, but non-quilters need to be warned that this will happen.

I did buy a bolt of black years ago, at Fabric Depot in Portland OR. When that was gone, I started buying Amish black in 3-yard packs from Keepsake Quilting. It runs around $6.66 per yard. It's important to me to have a true black, and that's hard to find, even harder if you're buying online. I've been very pleased with Amish black.
