I was told rubberbands will leave a mark on the fabric. I don't know how long it would have to be on there though. I had a lot of 1/4" elastic so I made bands from that.

In shops I want to be able to read the end of the bolt. Many have the fabric wrapped over the bolt end so it will drape down. The shops don't seem to understand how frustrating that is. I complain every time I find bolts like that. Seems that would cause more work to keep putting the fabric back over the end of the bolt because everyone pulls it off to read the bolt.
