Bonnie and Camille quilt?
I'm pretty sure that someone has seen the quilt that I am referring to, I have seen it on Pinterest. It's a beautiful quilt with a 9 patch on either side of 3 strips. I bought the fabrics for the quilt but cannot find the pattern! I'm pretty sure I can figure it out except I have no idea as to the size of the strips, for example is it a 1.5 inch I can't imagine that it would be a 2.5 inch because that would make it a very large block. After buying all the fabrics I wanted in the quilt I found the only way it seems you can get the pattern is by buying a kit! I am trying to make a queen size bed quilt. I would really appreciate it if someone knows what the measurement is if you could share it with me. I don't want to waste my fabrics by making up a block in each measurement. I have tried to attach the photo of the quilt hopefully it will show. Thanks everyone and Happy Holidays.

Maybe you can draw it out on graph paper.

If you look at the block, it is also a 9-patch made up of 5 smaller 9-patches and 4 striped blocks.
If your strips are 1 1/2" finished, that would make the whole block 13 1/2" finished (each portion of the 9 patch finishing at 4 1/2 inches) . That is a good size. If the strips are 2" finished, that would make an 18" finished block. I think it really depends what works best with the size of the quilt you want to make and how wide you want your sashing to be. It is a beautiful pattern. |
It looks like 2-1/2 inch to me for an 18 inch sewn in block. Cute pattern! No reason you can't reduce the measurements though for a smaller block even if it might be a little more difficult.

Just take the size block you want and divide by 9 add your seam allowances to that. So if you cut 2 inch strips you will have a 13.5 finished block. Cut 1.5 in stupid will give you a 9 in block
|
I would also go with 2" cut strips, which would finish at 1.5, with a 13.5" block. To me this measurement makes sense because if you look at the white sashing, it's about twice the width of the small squares in the main block. The 3" finished sashing (3.5" cut) also lets you make a reasonably sized 9 patch cornerstone: each patch would finish at 1" (cut the strips at 1.5").
If you had 5 blocks across and 6 blocks down, with sashing between each AND around the perimeter, the quilt would measure 85.5 X 102. you could add borders if you want it bigger. |
This pattern is called Early Bird by Thimble Blossoms for Moda and can be purchased from sellers on Connecting Threads, Fat Quarter Shop, or at www.thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com
This pattern sells for $8.95 to $10.00 Good luck! It's beautiful! |
Thank you all so much, bungalow59 I had looked everywhere without success including some that you've listed and they did not have it. BTW I did graph it out but those sashing 9 patches that had me stumped!! PaperPrincess you rock, you have given me all the numbers I need to make the size quilt I need. Grandkids, jeesh....what we won't do to make them happy. Now to go cut fabric...

Another helpful job 'well done' by the quilting board.
