Bonnie Hunter patterns--Allietare and Celtic Solstice
For those of you who have made either of these two patterns, how small are the smallest pieces?
|
I think it is 1 1/2" finished.
One clue from Celtic Solstice The half square triangles will measure 2” and finish at 1-1/2” in the quilt. |
There are a lot of 1.5 pieces!
|
Allietare also had HSTs that finished at 1.5".
|
Best advice I can give you is to oversize the individual blocks and then when sewn together, your blocks will be much more accurate.
|
Did Celtic Solstice--just be sure to square up units of the blocks as you go to check for precision--basically it's 2 blocks and then the pieced border
|
I just looked at my Allietare-in-progress. The smallest blocks are 2" that finish at 1.5" in the quilt. There are lots of HSTs that size, too. Just make your quilt super scrappy and you won't get bored!

Thank you so much!

If making so many HSTs, you should purchase the Triangulations CD. You can print out patterns for any HST and use them. I just use regular printer paper. Every single HST will turn out perfect, hardly any waste, and you can eliminate the squaring up process. The CDs is around $30 but well worth the investment. You can use it with so many of your quilting efforts in the future. It has patterns for HST, flying geese, etc., in many sizes. Good luck!

If you don't want to purchase the triangulations software as described above, this website offers many different sizes of the paper patterns for free download.
