I would do eyes...but all different (the same direction eyes on one sheep). Some eyes looking up, some down, some to the right and some to the left. I'd also put in a cross-eyed sheep and a sleeping sheep.

Yeah! That's the ticket, eyes and maybe eyelids too. I would be tempted to make some of them eating grass.

I say eyes.. it adds a lot to the quilt..and I like what NoraB said sleepy eyes on some would look good too
