This evening I went to a nearby thrift store and bought 2 hardback quilt books for $9.21. The titles of the books are : Creative American Quilting by Better Homes and Garden and The American Quilt Story , The How to and heritage of a craft traditon (Step by step for 30 Antique Quilts) by Susan Jenkins and Linda Seward. I reallly like both books and thought they were in good condition and I thought they were a bargain!!!!!

So Quilters what have you bought this week that was a bargain?

Reader's Digest Quilting School-$2.50
Folk Quilts and how to recreate them-$1.75
Fit to be Tied-$1.75
Singer Quilting by Machine-$1.75

Bought them at a book store named Pandit. All softcover books are 1.75 and hardcovers are 2.50.

An online book place is called ABE books. Most books are only a dollar but you do pay shipping. Also no discription of the books content.
Lots of used quilting books.
This site is a collection of used books stores that use Abe as a one stop shopping place for all kinds of books.

Thanks for the info... I have a wishlist/basket at Chapters, but haven't clicked that buy button yet. I'll go to AbeBooks and see if that site has the quilting books I'd like...

You can order the books online too, if there isn't a store near you.

I buy from Hamilton also. It is great but sure takes a long time to go thru the cataloug. you get one about every week. He knows all about you too.
When I moved back to AZ he found me, then when I ordered a quilting book from Abes he started adding quilting books to the catalog. It is amazing how much the media knows about us.

Best quilt book bargain - picked up one of Georgia Bonesteel's Lap Quilting books in hardcover with the dust jacket still intact at the local Goodwill store for $1. Plus tax. Woo hoo!!!

I got "365 Foundation Quilt Blocks" by Linda Causee. It wasn't cheap, but has more patterns than I will ever get to, including the rosebud I have been looking for all spring.

I think I can beat all your bargains. I was in my public library. I always go in there and check out their book sales. They sell hardbacks for $1.50 and paperbacks for 75 cents.

I spied this Jinny Beyer book on Christmas projects and it was full of beautiful quilts and pillows and stockings and appliques, etc.

And, so I snatched it up and when I went to pay for it, the lady rang it up at 75 cents. I said isn't it supposed to be $1.50? She said, yeah, but we're having a sale. It's half price.

So, with tax, I paid 79 cents.

:D

Try ordering from: Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller
Falls Village , Ct. 06031-5000

You can often get quilt books--and any other type of books---for as little as $2.95. I like ordering from them because no matter how many books you buy, the shipping cost is only $3.50, with quick delivery, even through snail mail. There is also an online site for them. Also, try Amazon dot com. One can often find deeply discounted books there.

Karo in KY.
