Border Blues
1 Attachment(s)
I don't usually put borders on my quilts, but something about this one tells me it needs one (or 2) Suggestions???

I would add a moderate inner border and then one more just a bit wider. Maybe light on the inside one and darker for the outside. That would frame it up nicely.

I love big borders so I would do a nice big one the size of the squares in the quilt and quilt a design in it. Another reason I always put a big border is I square my quilts before adding the binding and if I need to trim a little more on one side it isn't noticeable. Pretty top!

Lovely quilt. I vote no border.

Beautiful quilt, but I agree with you. I think it needs a thin, then a thicker border to take it to the next level. It looks unfinished as is.
|
I would put a very narrow (1/4") stop border in a contrasting color (maybe orange if you're really daring) and then a wider one in a coordinating blue (maybe a wild floral?) and then a dark blue binding. What fun to plan other people's quilts!

I would add a sky blue border to bring out the accent color from the darker colors in the quilt. Then a dark binding. It would make it pop and show a "silver lining" to the quilt's personality.

I always feel my quilts don't look finished until I add the border. I once took a class where the teacher said it's like framing a picture. Every quilt needs one.

This quilt is so lovely and cool all on it's own. I think you could get away with no borders, just a binding and consider it done! On the other hand, I don't think a border would be bad either, it really could go either way. However, if you are going to go with a border, I don't think it should be too busy. Your quilt is pretty busy in both design and fabrics. That is what you want to shine. I think I would do a solid border, not super wide, just to frame it as it were, and then either a contrasting outer border or just binding that picks up on the colors inside. Audition some fabrics before you make your choice. Truly, I vote no border as it really is lovely the way it is and makes a statement all it's own.

I think maybe a light grey border and a navy binding would do the trick.

That looks like Cozy's tube pattern "Just So Easy"? I did this one and added 2" inner border and 5"outer border and was very pleased. Yours is beautiful...

That's a really pretty quilt. I like borders but can also see it without one.

I totally agree that borders picture frame a quilt. I’m seeing a narrow ( 1/2”) red border then maybe a 2 1/2” of a darker color. Bind it with that same dark border. Good luck n whatever you decide.
|
If it were mine I would add a small neutral (cream or white) and then a blue border that is maybe 5".
|
I love your quilt!! I agree it looks like it needs a border. I would probably do a 1 to 1-1/2" small border in the lighter color then a 4" or so outer border in the darkest colors
|
How big do you want the quilt to be? adding borders in a good way to make the quilt the size you want. I would add a thin dark blue or black border and then a wider blue (maybe only 3") to end quilt. dark binding.

There is a lot of motion going on with your quilt. A border or two would be good.
