Border for my miniature Bargello
1 Attachment(s)
Our guild's quilt show always has a miniature quilt auction. I have made this miniature Bargello for that auction. I was going to add two borders, a small inner white one an then this purple one.
However, I am considering just adding the purple border, mainly to keep the size down. With only the purple border, it will measure 14 1/2 x 18 1/2. Our guild defines a miniature as "not having more than 100 inches perimeter" so this is certainly within those guidelines, but I really don't like them too big. So, my question is...does it look okay with just the one border? I think it does, but I'd like someone else to tell me they think it does too. :) Thanks, Dina |
Yes, it looks good. Personally I'd make it narrower but a single fabric does not take away from the bargello pattern. Very pretty

Just love your bargello colors and the position of your rows.
What does it look like with a thin white flange and then finish with the purple border? (With the total border dimension approximating your snapshot now).....maybe. |
beautiful little quilt. and lovely w the purple border as is, but i love a very thin color strip in my borders. it makes for a nice accent. i think very thin strip of the same white/light that you used in quilt would draw attention to more elements in your quilt than just the purple using purple border. as is, purple dominates the other lovely soft shades used in quilt, and you'd still be w/in size constraints.

What a pretty mini..lovely color combo... I would use just the purple border and also purple in the binding. I'm trying to envision a white border or flange, but think that's what you will see first, not the undulating shades of purple/turquoise. Since you have the purple already on, audition a white flange with a piece of white yarn placed where the fabric would be. Then stand back or take a picture, and ask if you like it.

I agree with the others. The purple looks great. A 1/4" white inner border might really pop. Either way, it's a stunning quilt!

it looks great with the one border

I like the purple border, and also the flange suggestion, however my fist thought was to use one of the turquoise shades for the flange - just a suggestion, beautiful color palette!

Put the tiny white border in. It will make it much better. You can make it as small as 1/2".

Lovely color combination Dina, I agree with others and think a narrow white flange would be just right.
