I like either way. It's a striking design. If it was mine I'd do a white border. I like quilt tops where the pattern floats on the background.

Hard choice but I do love the border you showed as it adds more character to the top

I like the borders. I would probably use two different colors rather than shades of the same color, but that's just a personal choice. I definitely like it better with borders. As Watson says, it frames the quilt nicely.
