Update:
i decided to go with purple. I had family and friends mention green, but I felt purple was the color. And I am not a purple person at all. I am not going to frame it with a small framed border. I decided to go with a 4 inch border framing the Zinnias. This piece is 23 and 1/4 X 17 and 1/2. Thank you to all who posted your suggestions. I really appreciate it! Oh, I found an Art Quilt mentor! I am so excited! Her quilts are awesome! If any of you want a mentor for landscape or art quilting, just ask! You might end up with more than one, and that is great! However, I had to go outside this forum through a friend to find one! I am still wanting a mentor here! I already admire those that have helped me and shared their work. Thank you! |
The purple is a great choice and an awesome shade to complement and frame the piece. Would be great if you posted a picture of the final piece. Contrats on finding an AQ'er to mentor you, best quilting to you.

Here is the latest and final run on the borders. I am going with little purple and large green. I am also going to bind it with purple. Thanks to everyone that helped me through this new process. I am a long way to completion, but getting theses border matters accomplished helps a lot! |

The problem with having the green as the inner border is that you lose the leaves in the center, they just keep on bleeding out, the greens are too close in value to put a stop to the design. you would need a much darker green, or go with the purple, it's darker than the purples in the center and stops the green, allowing the leaves to show

I like the final borders you chose. However, I agree with this:

A purple binding will give it more of a "quilt" look and a green binding will give it more of a "framed art" look.
