I am still confused about this point on borders and binding; Pretty sure the batting extends out to and includes the border. How about the binding; does it have batting in it, or not? I should know, but don't. Thanks!

Hi Martha, Your batting should be large enough to include borders and binding. The batting should fill the binding completely and evenly. Hope this helps.

After I have finished the quilting, I trim the top, bottom, and batting the same size, then add the binding. When the binding wraps around the edge, it covers it without adding to the size of the quilt, so the batting still goes out to the edge, but does not fold over into the binding. If I use the bottom liner as the binding, I just leave it longer, and still cut the batting the size of the top, then fold the lining over to the front and hem.

I cut 2 1/2 inch strips, sew them together, enough to go around quilt.
Press in half and sew on front of quilt. Then handsew the back.
You can sew on machine also, but I don't have good luck w/that.[b]
