Okay, I have stitched in the ditch on my Rail Fence quilt. Now, what about the borders? I have a two inch and 3/1 inch border and my batting can be 2-4".

P.S. lol I don't have a foot for free motion.I do have some decorative stitches built in to my machine.

I would maybe do a sort of figure 8 (you can do this with a walking foot). let me see if I can find a link. Or you can do a zig zag that interlocks (again, I'll look for a link).

here's an example-you do this once and then again so that it's opposite, so the lines interlock and you end up with figure 8s or maybe a better description would be footballs. Or alternatively, make them points instead of soft curves and you end up with diamonds.

You might even have that stitch on your machine :wink: if you do, set it for a as wide and long as you can and go for it :D:D:D

Someone (on this board??) suggested tracing the quilt pattern you want on tissue paper, then using 505 to gently adhere the tissue to the fabric where you want to stitch. It will pull away easily.
I'm going to try it on my next quilt.

I do have that stitch, but haven't mastered how to intersect the curves correctly. On a two inch border how many of these would you do across? or up and down?

I also have a stippling stich. If I use it, how would I run it on the border?
