I am making a throw with a Tiger panel in the middle. The throw is a perfect square, and I would like to add some length, maybe a 4-6 in strip on both ends. Would it be wierd to just add a plain strip to the top and bottom to acheive that length? I already have a border around all 4 sides. I can't remember seeing a strip added to just lengthen a project. Any opinions, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for your help.

I think it would be fine. You could pick a color in the panel to highlight it with the extra pieces. Some of the coolest quilt tops are born from the necessity of making them a little bit bigger.

Yes, you can add a strip at each end to lengthen it.
I have done it many times. Suggest you find a fabric that is compatiable with the rest and then it will look like it was intended. You might even add a triangle in the middle of each strip with long side toward the panel. Then it will really look like it was part of the overall design. |
Thank you ladies, I am so happy to hear the good news. I feel better about it now, and will get started again. All of you are Great!
