borders

On the sides I have sewed borders on in the direction I want it to look(length wise) and now I want to cut the top and bottom border selv. to selv. (so the trunks of the trees can all be looking the same way). Will this make any
difference? Will it cause it to be wonky or anything off? Thanks for help.

If it is a directional print, I have used fabric salvage to salvage on the top and bottom of the quilt and then used the length of the fabric for the side borders. Just be careful because the length can have a little more stretchy than the selvage to selvage.

I do this a lot. It should be fine.

I think you meant to say just the reverse, that the fabric is less stretchy lengthwise and has more stretch from selvage to selvage.

Anyway, you'll be fine cutting in one direction for the sides and the other direction for the top and bottom.

nope, no problems at all. we all do that for directional prints.
