Boston and New England Quilt Shops
DH and I will be traveling to Boston in September; three nights in Boston then renting a car and driving to Maine. Would love to hear from those in that area as to what quilt shops I need to put on my list. Even DH has agreed that since we're from Oklahoma, we have to see what the NE quilt shops have that I can't find here. Love this board and know I'll get lots of help on this one! Thanks in advance!

Maine's pretty big - what area(s) are you planning to visit?
One of my favorites is Fabric Garden in Madison (very close to Skowhegan), Maine. And of course Marden's, which is a salvage/surplus chain. All sorts of stuff, including tools, hardware, etc. for DH to look at while you check out the fabrics. See the other thread about Marden's. Michelle |
Will be in Maine about a week and right now, the plan is a few nights in Bar Harbor then possibly Freeport and will fly out of Portland when ready to be home. The only part of the trip set in stone so far, are the 3 nights in Boston. Day trips will be made.

See if you can work Keepsake Quilting at the northern tip of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire into your itinerary. Nice selection of fabric, nice people. Pretty area, too.

There is a great little shop in Bar Harbor, walking distance from anywhere in town. I love Bar Harbor!

Thanks to all for your responses! We are really looking forward to this trip as neither of us have been to the New England states, as DH says, "where it all began".
