Bounce ironing spray is wonderful!

Picked some up on the weekend, used it while pressing both quilt blocks and shirts. It made the iron glide so nicely on the fabric, not to mention the very pleasant scent. I am going to pick up another bottle when I am out again. Wonderful stuff for sure. I like it better than Mary Ellens Best Press.

SouthPStitches 05-30-2012 04:45 AM

Have never used the Best Press but am very happy with the Bounce Spray as suggested earlier on QB. Obviously, the price is much more reasonable. Any time you can save some pennies, it means more money towards fabric! Kind of a win/win

Sew N Tune 05-30-2012 05:59 AM

I was very pleased as well with this product.

mighty 05-30-2012 06:34 AM

I have not been able to locate any. I have looked and looked!

reginalovesfabric 05-30-2012 06:52 AM

where do you buy this, I too didn't like mary's best

RedGarnet222 05-30-2012 07:04 AM

I went over to the bounce site and put in my zip and found it at tons of stores here.
There was CVS, Walgreens, walmart, safeway, home depot, lowes, costco, kmart, target, sam's club just to name a few stores.

But, when I asked hubby to get it at walmart the other day, he said they didn't have it. ???

Grandma Peg 05-30-2012 07:15 AM

Never used bounce but when my MIL gave up housekeeping she had downey. It works so good when you prewash your fabric, especially if it is a large amount.

alwayslearning 05-30-2012 07:56 AM

Unfortunately, because of the "very pleasant scent", I cannot use it. I am terribly allergic to man-made scents.

Treasureit 05-30-2012 08:00 AM

OK...not in the loop on this one....is it a spray starch or just a make it easy to iron thing? Sounds like it is liked...whatever it is.

CoyoteQuilts 05-30-2012 08:39 AM

Bounce spray is a non-aerosol spray that is in the laundry department (I found mine on the top shelf) of Wal-Mart. I have not found it other places, but haven't look closely either. Would love to be able to find it in my local Sam's....

the label says it is 'ironing spray' that is 'crisp like a starch' with 'no flaking' and 'no clogging'. The scent is 'outdoor fresh' and is in a 16 ounce bottle. Oh yeah, it is in a bright orange bottle....

I to like it better than Best Press mostly because of the price and it works just as well. If I need lots of stiffness I still use my liquid starch that I also buy at Wal-Mart. This one come in a blue jug and you can make the strength you like.

joysewer 05-30-2012 09:10 AM

I bought a bottle too after reading about it on here. I love it!! I was wondering if they will come out with an unscented one. I like the scent of this one but I know there are people who can't use scents. My whole sewing rooms smells like it!!

judys 05-30-2012 09:13 AM

Has anyone made their own 'best press'? Someone told me there is a recipe for it and it includes vodka, a tiny amount of lavender scent and I can't remember what else. Anyone have the recipe?

Treasureit 05-30-2012 01:18 PM

Maybe try contacting the Company with your request...pretty sure they would like to know there is an interest in it.

I still can't find it even though the website said it was at my WalMart and Home Depot - neither had it. Very annoying.

I can't find it either. Maybe it's a California thing.

joysewer 05-30-2012 05:31 PM

I bought mine at the grocery store.

redquilter 05-30-2012 05:34 PM

Never heard of it but will have to look for it. Thanks for the tip.

judylg 05-30-2012 06:35 PM

It really is a nice product, I have tried lots of different ones, this is the best so far.

Treasureit 05-30-2012 06:38 PM

I emailed the company this afternoon for a location with this particular item...I figured out when you look for a location it is for ANY Bounce item...like dryer sheets....so I hope to get a response soon. Will share if it helps.

Ruby the Quilter 05-30-2012 06:42 PM

Sounds like something to try. Maybe I can find it in West Texas.

Silver Needle 05-30-2012 08:05 PM

What a bummer I went to the site, as suggested and typed in my Ip code. "Not available in your area.". I'll have to stick with Mary Ellen's for a while longer. I do like it & try to purchase when on sale. I use a 3 oz. Travel hair spray bottle from Sally's Beauty Supply for seams. It goes a lot farther because their isn't so much overspraying.

craftybear 05-30-2012 08:07 PM

I just googled and found you can order it here

I am as well...I hate overly scented fabric softner sheets and despise people (men & women) who wear way too much cologne/perfume. YUCK!!!

I cannot find this silly stuff ANYWHERE! I'll have to look online, I guess... *sigh*...

Thanks for the link. The price was $3.50 but the shipping was $7.60. So guess I will have to keep looking for it here.BrendaK

Keep your eyes on the laundry section of your stores. It's there with the spray starches. If you can't find it where you live, get hold of the store manager & ask them to get it in. I just got some at Walmart. Came with a $1 off coupon, so it was $1.96. It is very comparable to Best Press. Same qualities, but much cheaper.

Arleners 05-31-2012 03:28 AM

I'm a convert too. Love the stuff. I get it at Walmart, but you can't always find it. When I do I pick up two bottles.

Shelbie 05-31-2012 03:48 AM

This will be on the top of my list when I next head to the States. This product is not available in my part of Ontario and I can't even buy any kind of liquid starch here. The only thing I can buy is the Aerosol spray starch or Best Press. They may wonder at the border why I will have a case or two of starch to declare. I intend to share it with my quilt buddies at my Stitch and Share group.

I make my own starch for pennies a quart...It makes the iron glide over the fabric. It has no sent unless you want it to. You can add a sent if you like. It does not flake. You can control the stiffness of the starch. I have been making this for years. I got the recipe years ago on a web site featuring Alex Anderson....

dglvr 05-31-2012 06:31 AM

I had never heard of it. I'm going to check for it next time I'm at Walmart. Sounds like good stuff. Thanks for all the info. :)

Isn't it the husband not-finding-things normal?

I don't know about yours, but mine sometimes can't find milk in the grocery store either, lol

I just picked some up at walmart, it had a $1 coupon on it.

rrhaigh 05-31-2012 12:42 PM

How does it compare to the Magic Sizing for 99cents at Walmart? I love the Magic Sizing.

*********************
I have used Magic sizing for years and years and LOVE it!! For less than a dollar, it does the job very well. I always spray my fabric, iron it every which way, spray again, and iron again BEFORE I ever lay a ruler on to make my first cut. I have almost no shrinkage, peices go together well and I use it to lightly spray as I am setting seams. I use about a full can on an average size lap quilt.

PS....I do NOT pre=wash but just use the Magic sizing. I did find a bottle of Bounce spray over the Memorial weekend and gave it a try. There is a LOT of fragerence and for people who don't care for smells, they would not like this!!! It was OK and now about 10 days later, the fragerence is still there!!

craftymatt2 05-31-2012 03:57 PM

Anything out their non-scented, thank you for sharing.

pojo 06-01-2012 03:13 AM

I haven't found it either.

Latrinka 06-01-2012 01:59 PM

Yes it is, I love it too!

I can't use things like that either.

Quilter 65 06-02-2012 01:08 PM

I just tried this today for the first time as a result of recommendations on the board. That is wonderful stuff. Worth the looking to finally find it. Smell is so pleasant and the results are so crisp.

nstitches4u 06-02-2012 08:52 PM

Wow, it must be good stuff if it is better than Mary Ellen's Best Press! I' m going to have to try it.

Treasureit 06-04-2012 06:47 AM

I can not find this in my area. I tried all the places that the website showed. I emailed them and they told me to call a phone number...that number didn't get me to anyone.... grrrr.

I did find this website and ordered several bottles from them. http://www.laundrybagsupply.com/

What is the price you all are paying?
