Bow tie fan pattern

Hello all, I'm looking for a bow tie fan pattern and I haven't been successful. Any one know where I can purchase a pattern?

I found this one, hope it is what you want.

I have heard of a fan pattern and bow tie pattern, don't think I have heard of the two together. Some smart person will be able to help you.

? Do you want to make a fan pattern with material from mens ties.

I have never heard of a bow tie fan pattern. There are bow tie patterns and fan patterns. You could mix the two blocks together.

Are you looking for a pattern that has scrappy fan-looking ends with a square in the middle, and it kind of looks like a bowtie? It looked like the thirties patterns. I know I saw something like that here on the board before, and not too long ago in a magazine. Can't remember name, but will look a little later if that is what you are thinking of.

Is this the one?

It looks like a fan pattern with a square sewn on the white end to make a triangle (like you would do in a snowball) then just put fan ends opposite each other (the yellow part) and triangle ends (the red part) opposite each other to make the middle. If you look closely at the picture you can see the pattern block, the yellow, the fan, the white, then the red. You can see how they turned them to make the pattern. It would work in any size block. I guess you would just cut part of the block off when you got to the sides. Hope you can understand my explanation, it sounds good in MY head! I want to make the quilt also. It is out of the ordinary.

What a pretty quilt. I can see why you want to make it.

I just love this board. So many ideas and patterns.

This is a really cute one. I came from 4 or 5 generations of quilters and have never seen this pattern. Only fan patterns and bowtie patterns. Now I want to make one of these with repro fabrics I already have!

The only difference in this pattern and the one you are looking for is the red half square triangle added to the opposite corner from the fan and the layout. This looks like one to put on the to do list.

This pattern can be downloaded from Darlene Zimmermans site for $5.95.

Oh, my! That is a fabulous looking quilt block! I may have to put that on my to-do list.

Musiclady 04-05-2013 04:51 AM

The same for me...many quilters before me, but I had never seen this pattern. I love it with the repro fabrics and I'm itching to get started.

Musiclady 04-05-2013 05:03 AM

Didn't have any luck here...nothing came up with the "confetti" search

Musiclady 04-05-2013 05:04 AM

This looks promising--just have to round off the top of the fan

I have made fans by cutting circles, stacking them using number of pieces of fabric that I want fan blades then cutting them all at the same time, sewing a fan blade from each piece. kind of like stack n wack but blades all the same size. I am going to try making a block and see if I remember how to do it:thumbup: I really like this block! and block setting!

Ah--it came up on the website this time--feesacklady.com When I tried it this morning, the site didn't cooperate. Thank you so much! I've downloaded the pattern and will get started in the morning!

I have had these blocks for awhile so I stitched them together to show. and to learn how to upload pictures to threads. They are easy to make- these are fans are sewn on to white sqs.
