Would like to know how much time does it take you to sew a Bow Tucks Tote Bag and if any of you has found a quicker way than to follow the steps one by one. I have a few to make as gifts and I would like to go a bit faster. Or maybe I'm being lazy in the hot tub weather.....
Thanks in advance

I've never timed it, but I work assembly line style. I do all the cutting, fuse the batting on all the pieces, quilt all at once, assemble the handles & loop, then I go back and do the rest of the assembly. It goes quicker that way, especially if I can do all I need to without changing the the thread color. :)

After you do the first one the others work up faster.

My first one just took a few hours. I was amazed at how fast it went together.

Mine took about a day and a half but not all of that was sewing so probably one day. I hope the other two for my DD and DGD go faster!

I am studying the instructions before I start. Spent almost an hour last night trying to understand them and I finally got to step 8. I may do some cutting tomorrow.

Before you cut, check the strap length compared to other purses you like. I added a few inches to mine, meaning I had to cut another strip of fabric and fleece.

I cut out my first one this morning...also decided to lengthen the straps. I'm making mine out of reversible pre-quilted fabric, using coordinating non-quilted fabric for the lining (and I won't use batting on the lining since it will get enough body from the outer parts. Seems like I never make a pattern exactly according to instructions.

Although this is my first bow tucks bag, I've made many many bags before, usually from my own patterns.

You may change your mind about the pellon in the lining...I think it needs it, but you may be happy without it... :-)
