Do you use batting in your Bow Tucks Tote when you make them?

I am looking to make mine this weekend but have no batting at home, so wondering if I need to make a stop at Joann.

Absolutely! Your bag will be too "floppy" if you don't. I have been using a heavier fabric too, which also helps keep it's shape. I was afraid to make this bag because I am not a very good sewer, but surprisingly enough, it was pretty easy and I love how mine turned out. (I have made 3)

I haven't made one yet but I did purchase the pattern. They call for fusible fleece. I suppose you could use batting because they have to be quilted anyway; I think everyone on the board used fusible fleece.

Yes you need batting. It gives it body.

I wonder if I could use interfacing and fleece? LOL

I'm gonna try what I have around here. I have some thin fleece and batting. I also going to use spray basting. I have used the pellon fusible fleece. It worked good but I'm along way to a source. Be sure and post pic

I do. I teach this class and we use fusible fleece b y pellon. Works great or just a regular thin cotton batting works great too, because you are going to quilt both the outside and inside lining....lot's of quilting but worth it. Make sure you baste everything too....makes a huge difference in the finished product.

I think you could..I am acutally using batting scraps and 505 for mine as I am just going to try and do my first one as well.

Don't laugh! I've used fusible fleece along with decor bond interfacing. What I do is put the fleece on the outside fabric and the decor bond on the lining fabric. It gives it a little more body. So I quilt the outside, but not the inside when I do this.

I have also by mistake used both. It came out alright, but it sure was thick to sew. :)

The one and only one I am still working on and any future ones- fusible fleece. Gives the tote body and stability.
