Boxes Vs. pillowcase

I have usually stored my quilts in cotton pillowcases. I was wondering if it would be beneficial to invest in the acid free boxes or are the cotton pillowcases O.K. ? The boxes are kind of expensive so would appreciate any input.

I am no expert, but I would think pillow cases would be fine, just need to refold occasionally and store where the humidity is controlled.

I have stored the few quilts that I have in pillowcases. If I had a valuable heirloom quilt, then I probably would buy a acid free box to safely store it.

Either works. The advantage of pillowcases is that they can be squeezed into a tighter space. There is a lot of wasted space inside a box when the item being stored is not box shaped.

I would go with the pillowcases. I would think that they breathe better, and also fit better into your hope chest, or other place that you keep them.
