I have used the 'boxing corner' method on the tote bags I have created. It's a very simple method, no problems with that at all.

My question is: Is there a mathematical equation for how deep you box the corner = ?? depth of the bottom of the bag?? I am most definitely NOT a mathematician. For Example: 3" stitch across = ?? depth of bag....

I have boxed corners and will be waiting to see the answer to this good question. I usually just decide how "fat" I want the bottom to be.

Hmm, good question ... I am not a math person and would like to know the answer too.

I use the same method when I make bags.

Hmmmm...... either this is a really dumb question... or a lot of us don't know the answer! LOL

I usually decide on how deep I want the bag before I start. When I've settled on the depth and height then I know how big to cut my pieces. I usually "do my own thing" when making bags. If I use a pattern it is just a suggestion. I'm not sure there is a formula for depth to height and width.

It's really easy If you sew a 3inch seam across the 'box' then the depth of your bag is 3 inches. So whatever size you sew the the seam that is how deep your bag is. The depth being the measurement across the bottom of your bag.
