My broderie perse is fusible, not needle turn. Yes, I did it in chunks and hunks. I used clear thread for the edges.

Gaigai - I never thought it was fusable, what stitch did you use to sew it? did you use the clear thread in the top and bobbin? Beautiful!

Unfortunately the quilt club chief of police said "No fusables" in this raffle quilt. (and we just had a guest teacher show us how to do fusable applique) She also said we had to fill the baskets with either flowers or fruit/veg. I was so tempted to fill it with brown potatoes! One lady had wanted to fill it with sewing supplies, I was thinking a knitting basket with wool and needles would be cute too. Or a basket of kittens....

Here is my rendition of Broderie Perse. The flowers were cut from an authentic vintage feedsack print. The vase is cut without a pattern from polished cotton that was also used in the border. Some of the flower petals were cut out, faced, stuffed, and appliqued to the foundation flower. That doesn't show in the photo but does give dimension to the piece. Flowers were hand-appliqued and the piece hand-quilted.

it is a wonderful technique to have in bag of tricks
