I'm not sure I want to spend twice as much for the deco. But does it do a much better job or is it easier to get going with it.

I looked at the deco when I was in the market for an embroidery machine. Actually I looked at just about everything! LOL I ended up buying the PE770. Bernina machines require exclusive software when you are ready to digitize your own designs/pictures. Brother uses the software the nearly everybody else uses, and there are a lot of companies that write software for it. I agree with you about the price difference. I used it to buy thread, stabilizer, etc. I don't have a local Brother dealer so I bought mine from Amazon and got what I believe is a good price. Also, because the Brother is a twin to the Baby lock (baby lock doesn't make an embroidery only machine), I can get support from my local Baby lock dealer. I am very happy with my PE770.

I'm sure Bernina owners will tell you how great their machines are. You really should try them out and weigh the differences in your own mind to decide which is best for you.

I used to work at a Bernina and Pfaff dealers years ago in the UK. My mum has had her Bernina for 44 years and it is still going strong, a work horse without doubt!! I personally have always gone with pfaff. BUT I do love Bernina's as well. The only reason I went with Pfaf... my colleague was pure bernina and we taught classes on how to use etc. so it made sense for us to have different machines. I wouldn't change brands as I ave never had a problem with my Pfaff's but if I did it would certainly be a Bernina.:)

I have a Bernina 1090, over 25 years old and she still sews like a workshorse...Still going strong....I too, have been looking at the PE770 and the Deco...and I''m leaning towards the PE770, simply because of price....and I've read and heard alot of positive feedback on the PE770, haven't seen any on the Deco....Bernina Deco users can we hear from you???? :)

Me personally i would go brother any day not necessarily because its better but heres why
more affordable accessories, etc.
generally easier to use right out of box then most machines ( ie no big classes needed)
have a good reputation as well, and also do just beautiful work
As for durabilty, I have one brother i gave to my MIL, got it at age 13, I am now 30 still runs great 17 years later
Think more money for thread, hoops, stabilizer designs, if you don't buy the bernina.

I am going to try out the machines, the Brother shop is
1 1/2 hr away, the Bernina 1/2 hr away.
My hubby thinks if we spend more for the Bernina we will get our monies worth, but we haven't checked out all the software and accessories yet.
We will see.
