I have never broken a needle . I just make sure the needle is not down in the fabric. Because the needle moves when the machine turns on. You have to move the needle to position 1 to center it when you turn the machine on to center it.

Is there a trick on the CS6000i for bringing the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric when starting to sew? I can seem to get the bobbin thread to come up, I prefer to have both top and bobbin thread on the top when sewing.

Thanks. 1. Turn off the sewing machine 2. Hold down the "+" side of the stitch selection key on the left and turn on the sewing machine The initial needle position changes to the center needle position. Hope that works on your Brother! |
I have a Janome 9000, Brother Pacesettre ULT2003D theses are too heavey for me to take to class. Last winter I purchased a light weight Brother from WalMart and really like it. It is so light weight you don't know it's in the case. Stitch quality is great, walking foot is easier to put on that the other 2 machines. I really like it. Hope all enjoy the machines they have.

I have one and love the fact that the needle inserts your thread thru and the options of stitch size as well as the zigzag selections...don't have the walking foot and never quilted with it but have really enjoyed using it & also lightweight to carry.

When I turn it back on, MUST REMEMBER to set the needle back to the middle. Got a couple of broken needles. I e-mailed Brother and called if I am setting the machine wrong; no clear solution...Just got to remember to set the needle to the correct position before starting sewing. Aside from this, I am happy with the machine.
I am new to quilting, I already made lap and Baby blankets using this machine. |
This machine is on sale for $99 at Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B000JQM1DE By the way, I have a Brother Innovis 4000D (which is a much more expensive machine than this one) and have the same problem with the needle defaulting to the left. Can't tell you how many needles I've broken. EDITED: Forget the $99 at Amazon. The shipping is atrocious! ($94). |
