Is there a secret to replacing the needle. Just bought this machine. Can't undo the needle screw or face plate screws. I think they are welded shut. If the price is to good to be true there's a reason. LOL.

You could try a little sewing machine oil on the plate screws. Longer screwdriver for the needle screw. And don’t forget - lefty losses righty tighty!!

I had one for several and the first time I took the screws out they were tight. I finally used a dime and was able to get them to loosen. It is a good little sewing machine. I broke the needle threader and gave it to a gal who has better vision. It is still going strong.

Well the oil on the needle clamp worked. I was able to change the needle. No luck with the face plate. I already tried a dime as a screw driver. The most reason I bought it was the reviews said it was a quite machine. Without my hearing aids in it is loud. Don't think I will be taking it to class anytime soon.

Try a nickel to open the plate. That’s what we use in class. There is also a small tool that has a screw driver end on it made for theses machines.

Will try a nickle. The tool that came with it is useless. Tried a small chubby screwdriver that didn't work. I'm letting sewing machine oil just sit on the screws, next is WD40. Then it will fall apart. LOL.

I had the same problem, I think the guys who put these things together use power tools. I took my machine to my neighbor and he got the screws undone for me. I never tighten them real tight and I've always been able to get them off after that first time.

If you have the angle screwdriver you can add an extension handle to it. A piece of metal tubing or something rigid that will fit the end of the tool. If using the chubby one then use a pair of channel locks to turn it.

Will give this a try after breakfast.

I think they did use super tools. I know my son can help me but his best friend just had a heart attack (50), so his friend is staying at my sons house for now. That poor guy had a stroke 6 months ago. My machine woes take a back seat at this time.
