I got the brother 770 last Christmas. I bought Sew What Pro and love it. I did the trial versions of different digitizing programs including embird, and without a doubt sew what pro was the easiest. It def does everything (and more) that I want. I've used it for labels, adding words to a design ect. I also think their customer care is fantastic. They have a yahoo group and the moderators (from sew what pro) respond very quickly to any questions. I also bought sew write (same company) but haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet but so like it a lot also.

I would find a Brother dealer and, even if you have to pay for it, ask them to give you a class in how to use your machine. I have a Brother emb/sewing machine and I make my labels. Make one line and set, then go back and while first line is still on screen, write second line. The books aren't very helpful. Maybe a local shop can point you to someone else who has this machine

I have Designers Gallery Quilt Labelworks. Haven't had time to install and use it, but being Designers Gallery Software, I have no doubt it will be good. Price is $100.

You can get a new software program at www.bowsandclothes.com that is called 'combine design' for $10 that will give you a start. It allows you to bring in letters from a folder to spell names /words, add small designs....and save back to your folder to stitch out as a single design. It only works with .pes and only 4x4, 5x7, and 7x5, but hopefully more sizes will come later. There is a YouTube video to see how it works. I like it a lot for quick merging of letters for names., and I think it is great for newbies to get started. You can write your label and send it right to the machine. I hadn't tho't before about importing a blank label & putting info into it. Hmmm..that is an idea I must try!

Oh, and collect a lot of fonts in smaller sizes...sewforum is a good site for free alphas.

I am pretty sure that there are places where you can order personalized labels. It might be easier and less expensive both money and peace of mind worth.
