Brother Machines & Bobbins

I gave my youngest daughter a Brother Sewing machine about 6 years ago, today she asked m to come to her home and teach her how to use it! Well all she has is the sewing machiine, the needle and the bobbin that came with it. Now my question is do all of the brother machines use the same bobbin? I checked Joanns and Walmart and the only have one size or style that are said to be for Brothers.

I own a brother.... but I can't answer you... I would assume all brothers take the same size bobbin but that is just a guess... I take it she no longer has a manual?
you should be able to ck at www.brothers.com for info/support/manuals

No, I have a Brother Nouvelle 1500 and a Brother SE270D, and they take different bobbins.

There are two different bobbin sizes for brother machines. Your best bet is to lookup the model number and see what it says.

Usually the regular bobbins found at most notion aisles will fit most mid range sewing machines.

No I think front loading and drop in are different sizes, but I think the drop in machines are all the same size

What model is it? I have 2 Brothers and my sisters have Brothers. If we have same machine as your daughters I can check the manuals. Also, maybe go to this site: www.allbrands.com They sell a lot of Brothers and you might be able to look it up there. Good Luck!! Know your daughter is going to love sewing!!

I have two brothers too. The difference in the bobbins is the height of the bobbin. I have a front loader and I can use any bobbin height bobbin in it. DH got me a computerized one for my birthday and first page in the manual has a huge warning about the bobbin it has to be to taller one for that machine. Hope that helps!! Ps I use the metal singers bobbins(thats what I can get here) for the computerized and they do fit in the regular brother as well.

there is a difference. my Ult takes the smaller 3/8" bobbin. The smaller machines like the 6000i takes the larger 1/2". one is brother part SA155(3/8"), the other SA156 (1/2")

Peckish, I just bought a Brother Nouvella quilting machine!! I've had it for three days!! I am waiting for a quilting frame to arrive then I plan to start quilting with it. Seems like a nice, quiet and sturdy machine.
