Brother PQ1500S
http://www.kenssewingcenter.com/brot...e-p-30117.html
They have t his machine Brother PQ1500S on sale for $599.00 and if I have the money I would order it today. It is called a sewing and quilting machine and looks like it would be great for quilting. Anyone on here have one? Looks like it would be a great quilting machine and not to expensive when on a tight burget. Carol |
I found these reviews of it on Amazon:

I have one and out of the 7 machines I own, it is my favorite.
|
I have this machine and it is wonderful. It does great piecing and quilting.
|
My Daughter has this machine and totally loves it.

I have had this machine for years and it is wonderful. It is my favorite out of six machines. It has all the great necessities like needle down, cutters, and it is a straight stitch only. It sews a beautiful stitch and I can get a great 1/4 inch with it. Go for it. You won't be sorry.

Please explain what you mean by needle down? I see it mentioned a lot in talking about ,machines
|
I love this machine. Check allbrands.com to see both versions of this machine.
|
I have this machine too. Fantastic price!

I have this machine too. IT is a heavy and sturdy machine. I purchased it for FMQ but haven't really used it that much yet. I still love my every day Brother machine. I just wish the 15000 that you could SEE when the bobbin thread is running low. IT doesn't and I really missed that feature a LOT when I used it.

I have this machine and love it. It is a real workhorse.
|
I bought this machine thinking I would use it for FMQ, but I love it for piecing also. It's a workhorse. I got mine from Allbrands and it came with a cover, bunch of thread and bobbins and also lots of Organ needles. The only negative is there isn't an open toe foot available.
|
Have it. Love it. Use it daily.
|
Have it and love it !

I bought this machine last month to replace the one I quilted with that broke (someday that one will go to the shop and be used as tabletop). So far I love it, I have it on my frame. I ordered from amazon and it was here in 3 days. Needed no adjustments.

I have this machine absolutely love it :)

I just got this machine and it has a great stitch. I have a question, maybe you all can help me with. I threaded the machine with Superior Invisible Thread on the top and cotton thread in the bobbin, but I can only get a little ways before it breaks. I did not have this problem with cotton thread, top and bottom. I have threaded the machine per the examples for polyester or thread that tangles or breaks (both of them) in the instruction manual, but it still only goes a little ways before the top thread breaks. Can you tell me if you have had luck with the invisible thread, and if so what settings you use? Thanks so much!

JeanieG, when I used Invisible thread with that machine I loosened the upper tension a little and had no problems with thread breakage.
|
I've had this machine for 15+ yrs. It's my go-to work horse machine. It does a fabulous straight stitch & FMQ. The space in the harp is very functional. It does not do zigzag. It's very reliable. Many of my friends also have this machine and also prefer to work on it than another of their machines.
You've found a good deal for this machine. I'd jump on it. |

MonoPoly is very thin as it should be. Is not sticky nor thick. I use it alot. As suggested by Superior, use a topstitch thread. I turn my tension down to 2. I also use a thin cotton in the bobbin. Do not use your thread cutter as it will snap out of the needle. Its the best invisible on the market. Will not turn yellow or brittle like nylon will. Another thought, you may want to put the spool in a jar or a container as it may be getting twisted and caught during delivery to the thread path. That did happen to me. Operator error not the threads fault!!

Love mine and I cannot say enough good things about it! It's very fast at 1500 stitches per minute, wished I would have had it for dressmaking all those years ago.

Thanks everyone for the help with the invisible thread problem. I changed the tension to 2, and Yay - it works like a charm! I did some practice and it did not break once! You guys are the best!!! I find it so much easier to STID and follow a design with this machine, than I did with my Baby Lock. It must be because it is a straight stitch machine.
