Brother PQ1500SL
Does anyone have a Brother PQ1500SL? How do you like it, would you recommend for quilting. I see it has a 9" throat. I am presently quilting with a 6" throat. Please let me know how you like this machine.
Thanks in advance, Kay |
I don't have that machine but, I have two 9" throat machines I quilt on.

Here are the reviews of it on Amazon:

It does cost more. If you want to compare features and reviews, here is a link to the Juki: http://www.amazon.com/TL-2010Q-Locks...dp/B00AAZU1KE/ |
Most people that own one love it for quilting or the similar jukis. The PQ1500SL is a juki made machine I think the features might differ slightly in the brother version but the quality should be the same as the jukis since it is made by them. If you have a brother dealer they should have one to try since it is a popular model

I love my Brother 1500; I own 7 machines and it's my favorite.
Having said that, I quickly got frustrated with the tight quilting space, even with a 9" harp. I had it on a frame and barely got 5", which isn't a lot when you're trying to quilt 8" blocks! If you're putting it on a frame, you might consider going larger. |

Yes, I have this machine, and I love it! It's great for piecing and good for quilting. I quilted many quilts on this machine, including this queen size quilt. I did them using it as a sit-down machine. Then I bought a Grace frame and put the machine on the frame. That was way too limiting for me. Half of the throat space was taken up with the rolled quilt, and I couldn't achieve the designs I wanted. So I upgraded to a Bailey 17" for the frame. I still love my Brother PQ1500S. I use it for piecing and for quilting small items.

I just bought a PQ1500SL and love the way it sews. However, I am having difficulty with the thread cutter. It clips the thread so close that I have to stop and re-thread the machine each time if I use the thread cutter. Not at all what I was looking for. I have changed the needled and re-threaded along with cleaning out any dust. Any suggestions? Thank you,

I agree. Decrease the number of holes you are using.

I have a Brother PQ 1500,SL and love it! It sews well. A dealer in Texas that sells both brands told me the Brother was made by Juki.
