I have just bought a Brother's Project Runway. Having
problem with the tension. Gathers on all tension numbers. Any suggestions out there? Am using Dual
Duty thread.

Have you tried a different thread? Some machines are persnickety when it comes to thread.

Are you sure that the needle and the foot are in the up position before you thread the machine? That can have an impact.

Recommend resetting the tension to default setting, and rethreading the machine with a new thread and a new needle. good luck!

I had to change my thread. Machine did some thing to me.

Was it a demo machine? Sometimes people play with the tension. I had to turn my Janome all the way around 3 times and then set the tension. It has worked ever since. Do you have a store close by that you could call or drop by for some advice. Generally Janome people are very helpful.

I would also put in a new needle if you haven't done so already. Rethread the bobbin also making sure you didn't put it in wrong. Sewing machines are great but also tempermental.

Hi I have this machine and have had no problem with it, I love mine, I use the cone thread on mine and it works just fine, your thread may be to big so try a different thread and see if that works for you. I sure hope that you will get it figured out soon and get back to quilting. Let me know if I can help you again. Grannyp

It could be your bobbin tension. mark the spot where the tiny screw is aligned and then turn it counter clockwise a tiny bit at a time.

If you just bought it, take it back and get another one.

Try re-threading it and pull your bobbin thread up again-I have the same machine and I often have to do this to get my tension correct when I change fabrics. It usually works.

THANK YOU LADIES. I took all your advise. Changed the
needle, the thread and the bobbin. Changed the tension
setting. Had to go down to a little below 2 and now it
works perfect. One of the things I really like about this
message board and newsletter is the learning experience
thru all of you willing to share your talents, skills and
treasures with the rest of us. Again thanks.
