OK who has the Brother SE350 machine and do they love it? I can purchase one for $320, I want to know if it is worth the money.

Up North 02-24-2010 10:50 AM

I have one and I LOVE,LOVE, LOVE it!! You will want to get the PED basic so you can download designs off the internet. I do a lot of both sewing and embroidery on it. I had mine up and doing an embroidery design within a half our of unpacking!! PM me if you have any questions.

I so want to expand but I just cannot afford to go really high. How much was the additional PED basic?

Up North 02-24-2010 10:58 AM

I think I paid $119.00 for it. Last year. I got it through Amazon.com.

There are thousands of free designs on the internet so it more than pays for itself.

I also want to know does it come with a walking foot and a stippling foot or do you have to buy those seperate, my main thing i want is a machine for quilting the other stuff is the extra perks.

Up North 02-24-2010 11:32 AM

It did come with the embroidery foot that you can use for stippling . I bout a generic walking foot at Joann's for $11.00 use a coupon and it is less.

I have the same machine too and I love it! It's going on two years so I think I need a tune up :( The PED Basic is on my wish list :)

That is a good price!

Up North: I like your embroidery work! I played with it but I don't use it enough. What thread do you use?

khquilter 02-24-2010 01:33 PM

I just ordered this machine about an hour ago. Glad to hear positive things. I found a deal to get the Ped Box and machine for $498. I'm looking forward to learning the embroidery part. What thread works the best? And where are good places to find Patterns?

Up North 02-24-2010 01:36 PM

Believe it or not I use the $1.99 cones from Joann's or coats and clark. After buying a couple especially for EM machines I decided I wanted too many colors for that expense. I had to mess with the top tension at first but now it works great.
I use bottom line thread in the bobbin.

dgsmom 02-24-2010 01:39 PM

i buy my thread at joanns and hancocks. i cant answer about the downloads maybe someone else can help with that. i hope you enjoy your machine as much as i love mine.

Piedmont Quilter 02-26-2010 05:22 AM

I also have this machine and LOVE it! PED basic came with it and I've already downloaded from the internet. At $320 it's a steal!!

Is that the same 350 machine that Walmart sells for 399? It only has a 4 inch embroidery space.
I have been looking at it but that seems like such a small area to embroidery.

allie 02-26-2010 02:11 PM

yes but i think you can buy a little bigger hoops for it

Oklahoma Suzie 02-26-2010 02:25 PM

sounds like a nice machine.

dgsmom 02-28-2010 01:03 PM

i wanted to let you know if you do any appliques that you will need to use light bond because if you use heavy bond it doesn't like to sew on it.

Roxanne 03-07-2011 06:35 AM

Ladies,
I have a question----in reading many posts about the hoops for em machines, I notice that some are limited to certain sizes. This one says 4", but someone has stated that you can buy larger hoops. Does the larger hoop enable the machine to do larger sizes? or is the machine limited to 4" design space regardless of the hoop size?
