I'm in the market for a new Brother sewing machine. I'm not fond of my LQS nearby, so before I go in I want to go informed. I currently have a CS6000i. I'd like to spend approx. $400. Anybody have any recommendations?

Hi, I have an SE400 Brother that I bought at Walmart for about $350. It is a great little machine! It has an embroidery attachment and hoop, machine quilting foot (among several others). The machine is very easy to use, have a great manual with it. I am very glad that I purchased it. Good luck on your search for a new machine!

I have heard good things about the Project Runway machines, they have a variety of stitches, blanket stitch for applique and stippling.

I bought the Brother Runway....I love all the stitches and the ease of threading the needle. It took a while to master the threader, but with practice it is possible.
