I am looking for a machine to send to a friend on a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean. Would this a used Brother XL-5130 Mechanical Sewing Machine be a good option? It says it is all mechanical. The people are asking $35 and it is in the box. My friend wants a machine for basic sewing curtains and clothes mumus and shirts.

I just looked this up and it's just your basic sewing machine. Would the machine be compatible with their current.. I know there are some differences in some countries. Otherwise from what I can see that seems to be a great price. There are also many attachments available for it and help out there for troubleshooting. I have a Brother XL 3750 and I love it. A great simple basic machine. Only difference is that mine is somewhat computerized where it doesn't look like this one is.

Thank you so much for your response! Yes, the current is compatible. I do not want a computerized machine as there will be no support over there and she is pretty much on her own. I just want to be sure it is a not an all around lemon or so. OK I hope they still have it.
