Brother XR 1355 Sewing Machine question
 

I purchased the Brother XR1355 machine at Costco while they were on sale. I love the little machine, will be great for taking to classes. My question is should I be oiling the machine even though the manual doesn't mention it. When I bought my Janome they told me how important oiling was even though it was not mentioned in the Janome manual. If you own the Brother XR1355 machine, how do you oil yours?

I would check the website. I know that some machines, I think mainly those that have drop in bobbins aren't supposed to be oiled.

I believe most modern machines require only minimal oiling in the bobbin/race area. Motors are encased now and do not require oiling.

I have a brother XR-58 from Costco about 10 years ago. The manual says don't oil. One time I took it apart and oiled it but that was one time and although I have several vintage machines that little Brother is my favorites machine. It just keeps on ticking.

I also bought this machine while it was on sale at Costco. It really is a great little machine, very light yet solid when running. The manual says not to oil anything so I will not be oiling it. Guess I can ask at my machine shop if I take it in for service but untill then I think it is best for me to follow the directions.
