brown bag project
Our quilt guild has a brown bag project. We put 3 fabrics each 1/2 yd. in a bag. Then exchange them. We are to make something quilted from the fabrics for the person who owns them. Then in Nov. we bring the finished project back to guild meeting to them. My bag I chose has Christmas fabrics. I would love to hear your ideas on any small projects.
Thank you Fran |
Wall hanging; banner for the front door; table topper; bowl or box for holiday treats.
How about looking through the MSQC Christmas tutorials?
I like GailG's idea of fabric bowls or boxes. They're fun to make and useful too.
pot holders or a table runner would be things I would use
Sounds like a really fun thing to do. Hope you have fun. Table Topper, Zipper bag
thanks for the great ideas. I looked on Missouri Star. I like the bowl and door panel idea. Do you have any favorite web patterns or tutorials.
Can you add more fabric? If yes then a welcome door/wall hanging containing a snow theme with foot prints in black representing you know who.
A fairly new quilt group I belong to is doing this with the results due in Nov. The owner of the brown bag I chose wanted a tote or table runner. I used a strip from a panel of women shaped like vegetables where the colors matched the 3 fabrics and made a tote. I did post a picture a couple of weeks ago. Anxious to see the owner's reaction.

I made these table toppers that were quick and easy. I challenged myself to make them all slightly different. NOW I am trying to figure out what to do for this year.
love your blocks, especially the ornaments one. great pillows.

How about a set of placemats and matching pot holders? Placemats are usually 12"x18", so 1-1/2 yards of fabric would be more than enough. In fact, if you can add fabric, you could probably get 4 placemats, 4 microwave bowl holders and some potholders.
Oh My Goodness, I just love the first one, so vivid in the reds and white! Absolutely outstanding! Is the center of the block applique, embroidery, or the fabric itself? The other two are very pretty too.

Our group did something similar some years ago, but the receiver was to give finished item to giver for their birthday, inside the bag was identifying information. Since my birthday is in December, when everyone is so busy I decided to put in an easy apron panel. So, to my shock, the woman who got my bag was a true quilt published artist! If I had even dreamed she would get my bag I would have put several good fabrics in it. LOL Plus, in the meantime we were unexpectedly transferred out of state, I never even received the apron back. Boo Hoo,
I really like your table topper pattern looks fun and I love the Christmas ornament one.
I would appreciate anything that someone took the time to make for me.
Have fun and show us what you end up making. |
Love the table toppers! Gives me a good idea for gifts also. Placemats would work well also. I have a pattern that calls for 4 FQ, I think it's called Take Four. They work up quite fast & easy.
I would make a placemat then when the owner uses it they think of you.

totally love the 1st one. It's gorgeous!

Love your ideas...I am going to give it a try...Have to figure the math first.

I'd love a Christmas pillow cover, 18". Or a set, if there's enough fabric. I never get around to making pillows for myself at Christmas, but always wish I had a couple for the sofa.
