Brown starch spray UK!

Just a note to UK quilters warning you not to buy Fabric Magic Spray Starch at The Range. I bought three cans this weekend. I just started starching my fabric, shook up the can, did a big spray and it all came out yellowy brown!! I tried the other cans on some scrap fabric and they are just the same.

Hope you can get your money back!!

Must have been very old to turn like that.

Oh...what a shame...
Hope you were able to get the brown out of your fabric.

Luckily I only sprayed it onto some small pieces of scrappy fabric and noticed immediately that it wasn't right. I would have been very upset if I had ruined anything special.

Make your own...cornstarch and water. A lot cheaper and no fumes.

Ditto what she said! Iwould take it back ASAP.

Thanks for the heads up! I never thought about how to make your own.

Yuck! When I want to use starch I like to use Faultless boxed starch and make a batch according to directions. I don't know whether you could put it in a spray bottle, but it will keep for several days in the refrigerator. As a shortcut, I do use canned spray starch and from now on will test it before spraying on what I am working on.Thanks for the warning. froggyintexas

I will definitately take them back, but will have to wait until the weekend to do that. In the meantime I have emailed the stores customer service department in the hope they will check out their stock. I keep imagining how I would have felt if I had sprayed it onto some of my vintage linens! I would hate for that to happen to someone else.
