Just gorgeous! I made four of the blocks and then drifted away to work on other stuff. Now I am inspired to get back to it. It is a great way to use up scraps.

The finished block is 16" with 1" sashing in between. Make all the 1/2 square triangles into squares first and then you just sew 64 two-inch squares together. The hardest part is keeping all the squares turned the correct way and in the correct order when sewing them into the block.

I've thought of doing this as a non-scrappy quilt and eliminate some of the small pieces by making the star in the middle all one color of print, using a 4" square in the middle and flying geese blocks for the points. Then use a coordinating fabric for the outer "wheel" also using flying geese. And a lighter tone-on-tone fabric for the background. But then maybe I'd get as tired of making flying geese as I did sewing all those little squares together. I pieced half the blocks and then put it away for two years before I got it out and finished it. (I also had other things going on that kept me away from it, not just getting tired of making it.)

I just love this quilt. I have wanted to make one like this, but O' so many different colors. This one is so pretty I may have to give a try.
