Build your sewing into table?
I seen a post on here about a ladies husband took her sewing table and cut a part out and dropped her sewing machine in.. would love to find that post.. searched for it and did not find it.. she had plans on there how to do it! BUT the real question is..... Do you prefer to sew with your machine on the top, or built in? I have ALWAYS just put my machine on a table.. but have thinking about building it into my table... your thoughts?

no that is not it! It was just a basic table.. like kitchen table.. and it cut a hole in it and put a shelf under it (hung by brackets)

K- done spamming your thread...hope you find what you're looking for...
btw, rather than searching here (which sometimes isn't effective for me), I used google for the search, and just added quiltingboard.com to the search so that it would come up with the posts here. |
I'm weird, for piecing I like it above, for FMQ I like it in, the reason is when I remove the tray or need the free arm if it is recessed you don't have access so I would say if you are going to do it make sure you can also use it out side of the hole as well. I do have to say that I miss my extension table that I had on my old machine that my upgrade didn't come with. Those are awesome for classes even though I probably wont lug my heavy machine to big classes it is indespensible for FMQ classes

I have the arrow gidget table that lowers and raises that aren't too pricey. I think you find one for the small machines for 100 . The ones for the bigger machine run about 170 and allbrands.com has free shipping on them I think. I love mine, I only have a small corner for my sewing.

My husband built my table for me, with the well for my machine. I prefer it in the well. He built the table a specific height for me, so out of the well it is too high. I like the smooth even surface I get when its in the well. My table is 6 ft. by 4 ft.

I have a 6 foot wood table that I cut a hole in and mounted my juki level....I LOVE it. Plenty of room on the table for making my tops.

When I was growing up, my mother always had a machine that fit into the table so that's what I learned on. It feels awkward to me when I take a class and have my machine sitting up on the table. See if you can try one set in a table somewhere to see if you like it. I LOVE it for both piecing and quilting.
