I am interested in making the bulls eye quilt in the pattern book "Quilts From Aunt Amy". Since there are so many raw edges to this pattern can it be machine washed? Will it just turn out to be a frayed mess? Thanks for your input!

No, It does not fray too much. Made one for my son in 2001, still looks great.

Not one where I have it handy. I put it into a drunkards path pattern.

Maybe there is a pattern on quilters cache? I'll have to check it out.

Fatcat patterns has 3 different ones (squares, flowers & hearts)

My first quilt was Bull's Eye. I had no pattern only has seen it in a shop. It was fun to put together. Leave 1/4 to 1/2 inch around each circle for clipping. Fraying makes the quilt. It will not turn out to be ragged mess.

It will only fray TO the stitching lines ... the nature of woven fabrics <g> and, the more you machine wash it, the better (in fact, usually wash it three times before you have all the loose threads out of it for the person you give it to.) It is quite the stylish thing to do now on some quilts. <wave>

It will fray somewhat like a rag quilt. The one I made turned out beautiful. (If it is the same pattern)

It can be washed. It is supposed to have "raggedy" edges, so the more you wash it, the cuter it is. :)
