Who gets caught up??? With all my quilting projects and other crafting projects, I will be at this until Kingdom come. LOL But I don't mind for it keeps me from getting bored.

Maggimae 12-21-2010 08:53 AM

One thing I have noticed in my years of life is that folks who keep their hands busy creating never say"I'm bored"!!!

jad1044 12-21-2010 09:04 AM

How true Maggimae - and for those who are bored, they need a hobby(s) to get "unbored"............... I don't have time to be bored! But not all are as lucky as us who love to quilt! Like all of you have said, there is always "one more" to do! Sometimes that one more becomes many more!

catrancher 12-21-2010 10:01 AM

Where would be the fun in that?

StitchinJoy 12-21-2010 10:02 AM

“Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?” ~Robert Browning

Same thing goes for women!

nab 12-21-2010 10:09 AM

Don't let them overwelm you. When this happens to me I get nothing done. It all goes on a list and hopefully some day it will get done. BUT, there are things I want to do just because and not specifically for someone. I do not want to HAVE TO quilt. It is my fun time not my stress time. Good luck with getting your "I wants" done. I do agree we never get caught up. That's part of the fun.

EagarBeez 12-21-2010 10:14 AM

Caught up??? Are those words in the dictionary?? I am working on a bargello queen/king size for my niece. I have fabric to make a queen quilt for my sister.
I have a quilt to make for my other sister, a lap quilt and quilt for my SIL, and fabric sitting here waiting to get made into a quilt for our guest room. Just hope no guest arrive before I get it done... which should be.....????
I'm having a great time, even if I am not professional. I just enjoy turning fabric into something beautfiful. Who could ask for anything better

JeanDal 12-21-2010 10:55 AM

I doubt if I'll ever be caught up. My kids are adding kids. LOL!

Maggimae 12-21-2010 11:39 AM

Funny how that happens! LOL! :D

As quilter's do we ever get caught up?

I love your avatar, it is so true but then no one is perfect.

Don't get stressed out about the number and how fast .you have to get them done. Enjoy the creative journey and grow new skills with each one. That is what makes the quilting journey so wonderful and fullfilling. It will give you pleasure all your life. Good luck and Merry Christmas. ( I have 6 children and 17 grandchildren and 1 Great grandchild and they all have quilts, one at a time.)

Maggimae 12-21-2010 01:29 PM

You give me hope!

stitchofclass2 12-21-2010 03:47 PM

LOL. You just gotta love this site. I do! You ladies and gentlemen know that you CANNOT die until ALL your fabric is gone. Keep on quilting.

Mine Too!

hperttula123 12-21-2010 04:17 PM

I know I'll never get caught up....but it's all fun. It's a great hobby and it makes me happy, so I don't care if I ever do get caught up. :) As long as you are happy and doing what you love to do....does it really matter?

janetter 12-21-2010 04:40 PM

I agree there is always something pending and ideas that "need" to be tried. Just have FUN with whatever you do

I agree with EVERYONE! A quilter NEVER finishes! There is always another project waiting in the wings!

=======================================

I have been working on a memory quilt/crazy quilt for my grandson for over a year. I TRIED to get it finished before today when I was due to give it to him and IT STILL ISN"T FINISHED! I gave it to him anyway! I have the safety pins in it holding the three layers together. I told him to use it this way and I wrapped him up in it! (He just turned seven.) I said after the winter, I will take it back and finish it!! He thinks it's a great idea. He was so happy to get it. (And I am so happy to NOT work on it for a while.) Please remind me not to make a big quilt again. It makes me crazy! And CATCH UP????Not in my lifetime......I even got a fortune cookie which said "You can't live long enough to do it all." Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

grammysharon 12-21-2010 05:35 PM

I don't think we will live long enough to finish all our projects in our minds. At least I hope I don't. haha

kwiltkrazy 12-21-2010 05:43 PM

Nope, you never get caught up, especially if you have a list of want to-do quilts, and not just have-to-do quilts. LOL, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Maggimae 12-21-2010 05:51 PM

I agree whole-heartedly! I will never be finished! The feeling of passing on something that you've made with your own hands, can't beat it!

JanetM 12-21-2010 05:52 PM

Absolutely not! For every project that I finish, I have dozens more that I want to do. But that is okay...how horrible it would be to not have anything to look forward to making.
My New Year's resolution is to sew more than I have, and to really have something to show for all of my work this time next year. ;)

sewingsuz 12-21-2010 05:56 PM

I nerver get caught up.

No. We just go to pieces.

New knee 12-21-2010 07:48 PM

To get caught up would take all the fun out of it! Working on several projects at the time keeps you from being bored with the same ole same.

snowed under 12-21-2010 07:56 PM

I was thinking about asking the good Lord if I could take my supplies with me. lol I'm sure he has some fabric waiting. lol

quilting 12-21-2010 08:24 PM

I'm not too worried about getting caught up - My oldest son asked me to downsize, so they wouldn't have so much to go through. "Not happening" I said - because I'm taking it with me, so I'll have something to do when I get there !

kateyb 12-21-2010 08:48 PM

If I could sew 10 hours a day 7 days a week it would probably take the next 10 years just to use up a good portion of my stash and WIP's. To make all the ideas I have written down I need to live to be about 150.
I will always have someone to make quilts for. I have 10 siblings, my mom has 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. That isn't counting spouses of any of the above.
I'm already 7 baby quilts behind. They'll be toddlers soon. My nieces and nephews need to slow down on the baby production.
Who said anything about getting caught up????
One nice thing about quilters - we won't get bored.

Jim 12-21-2010 08:54 PM

If you EVER find out what "Caught Up " is..please let everyone here know...PLEASE

fayza 12-21-2010 09:04 PM

I made a post on here and listed all of my un finished projects.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-79662-1.htm

I have to say it has helped to motivate me. I will see the thread through until every project listed is finished......... but since then I have started several "new" projects, and I don't want to turn the QB into the world of my unfinished projects. lol So I made a free tripod webpage. This way some of my FB friends can also help motivate me by allowing me to share with them. I want to work harder to finish so I can share pics with anyone that would like to see them :) Just thought I would share this idea with you :)

Dee 12-21-2010 09:11 PM

Fabric, patterns and projects-never will catch up. I should live at least 999 more years. LOL

bjdemir 12-21-2010 09:16 PM

Just been quilting for 2 years now and am getting behinder and behinder. I don't think caught up is part of a quilters vocabulary!

cindygale 12-21-2010 11:07 PM

phatquilts 12-22-2010 02:13 AM

To Paraphrase: A Quilter's Fun Is Never Finished!

Am rarely bored---Happy New Year 2011.

GloBug 12-22-2010 08:17 AM

For me getting cought up is not an opption. My stash seams to be pregnnant each time I go looking for something it has gotten biger.

cjmat 12-22-2010 10:05 AM

Lol! It doesn't matter how close we get to finishing whatever it is we're working on..it seems there's always that certain something that MUST be started..right now! Just go with it and enjoy the ride. Eventually it all comes together.

nanna 12-22-2010 02:40 PM

OMG.. I just made the "EASY TUBE PILLOW CASE" From
The Missouri Star Quilt Co Tutorial. Amazing. I love their site. No reason to not make a matching pillow case with every childs quilt..

Grandma Peg 12-22-2010 02:45 PM

Welcome back. Good luck if you can get caught up. It seems you get your UFO's finished and look at a magazine, or online, or at your quilt group and you find a pattern or more of something you have to make, it just never ends. It's life.

cjmat 12-22-2010 03:57 PM

And we love it that way :)

Rann 12-24-2010 10:31 PM

No--we never get caught up. It would take me a month just to read and look at all the stuff on my quilting favorites folder on the computer.
