You don't really need a pattern, just need to know how to fold them. There are online sights that will show you how to do that. OR, you can fold it in half crosswise to make a triangle having the focal corner showing. Then fold it again, on the angle keeping the focal corner out. Starting at the center go about 3/4"-1" in and sew a seam (just a basting stitch will do) at an angle down toward the focal corner but end up about 3" away from it. When you open and press this seam it will make the wings and the body of your butterfly, leaving the focal corner at the widest part of the body. My sister likes to fold hers just a little bit short of corner to corner so that the bottom half shows about 1/2" She says it makes it look like double wings that way. Then you just use a blanket stitch with black thread (for a traditional look) or your favorite decorative stitch to applique it to your block. If you cut a piece of thin cardboard into a wedge about 3/8" wide at the top and 1 1/2" at the bottom approx the same lenth as your butterfly body, you can insert that and press the seam open much easier. Just insert the cardboard, spread the wings, press, then remove the cardboard. You can pull the top edge up a little to make the "head" or I've also seen them made with a small button for the head. Then just embroider the antenna and you're done.
Adjust your seam measurements to suit yourself but making the seam will make your quilt go much faster than trying to just fold them and pin them in place without them coming unfolded on you.
