Buying an extension table...help
 

I have a Janome DC2011 and love it but would like to have a wider table to try and do some free motion quilting. Does anyone know if Janome makes one or what some good options are out there.

I have a Janome table with a cut out for the machine to set into. It's about 45" side to side and 18" front to back. I bought it from my Janome dealer when I bought the machine. Here's a site that sells some but none are just like mine. Mine is closest to the second one on the page but the legs are different. I love mine.

Thanks all.. what size do you have? I'm wondering if the Jr size (11.5x15) would be big enough to use with the supreme slider and I'm think about buying a quilt halo.

I am not sure what it is that you are looking to find. The small extension table as seen on the website, or are you looking for a table to drop your sewing machine into - like the Sew-Ez table (it comes with a cut out for your machine) for $249.00. You can buy an extra table for another $199.99 to butt up against it so when you need it you have the additional space and put it away when you don't. I love mine, it is very sturdy. (My Janome came with a table it sets into, so all I have to do is reduce my ironing board and it works as my extra table.

I was talking about the little extenders that I could take with me to my guild and use at home with my slider.. but I'm taking in all the information for both. The one is more in my price range at the moment but at some point, after I've saved up some, I'd like a larger real drop in table for use at home if I try a big project.

My DH made me this table. It cost about $30 and can be removed easily (although I usually keep it up since it makes a great work surface.) He also cut off the legs of the old table to adjust it to my height. Sewing machine is easily removed from the table. Here is the directions link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAS25v3ZTk0.

The good thing about it is when you buy a new machine it is adjustable and fits almost every machine. I love it.

I made my extension table from the blue foam board. I love it!

You could easily make one, or have one made if Janome doesn't have the one to fit your machine. Make a paper template of the shape of your machine's freearm. Take a piece of thin plywood and trace the shape onto it so that the right side of the plywood comes to the right side of your freearm area. Cut out the freearm area and sand the edges well. Paint with varnish or laquer to make the wood very smooth. For legs, cut pieces of dowel the right length to raise the table to equal the height of your sewing machine bed. Secure them by screwing from the top, through the plywood and into the dowel underneath. Use 5 feet, one in each corner and the 5th in the middle beside the freearm end of the machine.
If you don't want to varnish the wood, use peel and stick shelf paper/contact paper to cover the whole area.
If you want to attach it better to the actual machine, you can add an elastic strap to go around the machine and secure it with hook and loop tape. (Velcro)

My DH made me one of plexiglas. We marked fit & he cut and countersunk screws from the top to attach wood legs. Later we found adjustable legs. If you'll take your pattern to Lowe's or Home Depot, they might cut it for you. Mine cost about $18 and it's the heavy plexi. Labor was free at my house!
